Just in case there’s anyone out there who is still in doubt on this point, Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserver for 18 years under 4 different presidential administrations — and who is generally credited with knowly at least a little bit about policy has just stated in his new memoir an interesting truth:
I am saddened that it is politically inconvenient to state what everyone knows, that the Iraq War was mostly about oil.

So much for Democracy being ‘On the March’. Or a better question would be, do you think we would be as enthusiastic about injecting democracy into Iraq if its main exports were, say, Lettuce and Pickles?
By the way, did you know that the original military name for the plan was (O)peration (I)raqi (L)iberation? …They actually did use that name for a few weeks until they changed it… for obvious reasons. Don’t believe me? Check it out:
